Gaumutra Se Cancer Theek Ho Gaya?
Pragya Singh Thakur, BJP Member of Parliament (Bhopal) · 2019-04
Election-season television interview with India Today's Rahul Kanwal, during the 2019 Lok Sabha campaign.
Exhibit A · The claim
Thakur stated that she cured her own cancer by consuming cow urine.
Exhibit B · What the record says
There is no peer-reviewed clinical evidence that cow urine or cow-derived products treat or cure cancer. Dr Rajendra Badwe, director of the Tata Memorial Centre, India's leading cancer research and treatment institute, said publicly there isn't “a shred of evidence” that cow urine or similar products are useful in cancer treatment. Separately, the former dean of JJ Hospital said there were no signs Thakur had a major ailment at the relevant time, and a treating doctor went on record about the surgeries she actually underwent.
Oncologists have a whole menu of treatment protocols. None of the peer-reviewed ones involve a cow.
