175 GW Wali Green Energy Kahan Hai?

India would reach 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022: 100 GW solar, 60 GW wind, 10 GW biomass, and 5 GW small hydro. Announced at the UN Sustainable Development Summit.

By the original definition, India fell well short: renewable capacity across solar, wind, biomass, and small hydro stood at roughly 114–116 GW through mid-to-late 2022, about a third below target. The government's later public figure told a different story: it reported 95% achievement (165.94 GW) to Parliament by folding in large hydropower projects, which were explicitly excluded from the original 175 GW definition in 2015. Add a category after the fact, and the shortfall shrinks on paper without a single new solar panel going up.

Missed the target, so the target quietly got bigger categories to hide in.
