Fasal Bima Ka Paisa Time Pe Aata Hai?
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana would give farmers crop insurance with claims settled quickly and transparently, designed to pay out within about two months of harvest rather than leaving farmers waiting out a full crop cycle for compensation.
On the money itself, the scheme has genuinely delivered: the government told the Lok Sabha that 97% of claims have eventually been settled, and total claims paid out (over ₹1.6 lakh crore since 2016) have exceeded total premiums collected, a real, farmer-favourable balance sheet. The specific promise that breaks down is speed. Independent survey data found payment delay was the single most common complaint among beneficiaries, cited by over 80% of farmers in one study, driven by late yield-data submission from state governments and slow on-ground crop-cutting assessments.
“Eventually getting paid and getting paid on time are not the same promise, even if they use the same rupee figures.”
