Sabka Ghar Ban Gaya?

“Housing for All by 2022”: every Indian family would have a pucca house with water, electricity, and a toilet, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, launched to mark 75 years of independence.

Of roughly 1.25 crore houses sanctioned, only 61.2 lakh (about 49%) were completed by the original 2022 deadline, per the government's own reply in the Rajya Sabha on 12 December 2022. The scheme was extended repeatedly: PMAY-Gramin to March 2024, PMAY-Urban to December 2024, and the mission period for houses sanctioned up to March 2022 pushed further to December 2025. Performance varied sharply by state. Andhra Pradesh completed about 18% of its target; Goa managed about 8%.

Turns out “All” meant about half, eventually, depending which state you live in.
