Skill India would train 40.2 crore (402 million) people by 2022, under the National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The 400-million-by-2022 figure was the headline number at launch. It is no longer cited in the government's own recent policy documents or communications about the programme's results. The target itself quietly stopped being the metric anyone reports against, rather than being formally withdrawn or replaced with a revised number.
